Student Violence Series

The Student Violence Series teaches teens that violence prevention requires communication among students, teachers and families, and guides them to establish those critical links.

The series includes three videos -- Break the Silence, Stop the Violence, Keeping Schools Safe: How To Stop Violence On Your Campus and How To Spot A Potentially Violent Teen and What To Do About It. The first video shows high school students how they are an integral part of the fight against violence in schools. They are taught to become aware of their surroundings, to take every threat seriously, and to report their concerns if they suspect another student may turn violent. Keeping students actively involved in the prevention process creates the adult to student bond needed to stop the problem.

The latter videos -- Keeping Schools Safe: How To Stop Violence On Your Campus and How To Spot A Potentially Violent Teen and What To Do About It -- are intended for educators and parents. They assist in student assessment allowing adults to act appropriately in the event such a violent occurrence should surface.

The pamphlets and teachers’ guides encourage further discussion and provide activities to reinforce the messages contained in the videos so students are given the opportunity to learn in a safe environment.
