| Get Set Career
|
|
Under 16 career clusters based on U.S. Department of Education guidelines, 125 careers are introduced to show students the variety of job opportunities a field of interest offers.
GetSet provides a variety of media -- workbooks, pamphlets, CD-ROM and an interactive
website
-- in which teens can conduct in-depth career analysis.
Each career cluster pamphlet offers an overview of several jobs, including job descriptions, required skills, working conditions, educational requirements and average salary range. Other jobs in the same general field are listed for consideration.
GetSet CD allows students to assess their options by providing career preparation, job descriptions and planning strategies, interactive personality and learning style assessments and a job interest survey.
The
website provides similar assessment tools to those provided on the CD-ROM, and allows students to create a teacher-accessible portfolio to document progress and conduct research into suggested fields.
The workbooks -- GetSet for Life and GetSet for College -- offer information on resume writing and other skills needed to enter college and the workforce.
