Building Futures infuses career education into a teacher's academic curriculum with easy-to-use lesson plans and informative resources for each grade level.
Manuals are divided into six core subject areas: Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, Health & Physical Education, and Art & Music. Lower elementary students can learn about careers and the skills they will need to succeed through fun scientific activities. The activities included in this curriculum guide are – How Does Your Garden Grow?, Simple Machines, Writing Recipes for Success, Balloon Propulsion – How Far Can You Go?, Seasons – Who Do We Need?, Working Like A Scientist, What Has Changed?, Under the Weather – Reporting Accuracy, Kids Count – Protect Endangered Species, Classification, Be My Eyes, Clay Play, Recycle Club – Working Together, Home Sweet Home and A Lesson on Drugs.
In addition to creative lesson plans, each spiral-bound manual contains a chart of 125 occupations, organized into 25 career clusters with descriptions of tasks, skills required, and salary ranges. There is also a calendar with career-related events, and numerous website addresses for teachers and students to explore.
