The "Saying No" substance abuse prevention series focuses on the vital element in convincing children and teens to reject peer pressures to use drugs -- how to do it without creating a confontation or appearing cowardly.
Three age-specific series of mini-mags addressing students from grades 3-12, and corresponding videos suitable for audiences from middle school to senior high, describe the physical, psychological and social harm wrought by tobacco, alcohol and marijuana.
Readers and viewers learn to identify and resist the methods employed in advertising, entertainment media, and by their own peers to lure them into using these substances.
And they receive extensive input from a panel of peers on refusal strategies.
Mini-mags use colorful graphics, and age-appropriate activities and exercises build students' awareness of drug vocabulary, problem-solving, decision-making, and refusal skills.
