| Life Skills Video and Pocket Guide Series
Beyond the “three Rs” of the classroom, there are a host of other lessons high school students must learn to prepare for adulthood. Learning these Life Skills can mean the difference in the success or failure of one's career, relationships, and ability to get along with others.
Twelve-page pocket guides address 15 different life skills' topics -- teasing and rumors, going for the gold in relationships, safe sex and abstinence, communicating with your parents, dating, friendship, getting a job, refusal skills for healthy living, listening and communicating effectively, improving your self-esteem, making good decisions, coping with a parent’s alcoholism, abstinence, protecting yourself from violence and dealing with anger.
Nine correlating videotapes illustrate some of the life skills that are introduced in the pocket guides -- Teasing and Rumors, Communicating with Parents, Getting a Job, Refusal Skills, Listening and Communicating Effectively, Dealing with Anger, Improving Self-Esteem, Making Good Decisions and Abstinence. Scenarios are acted out so students can fully realize the importance each topic. Posters remind students of the messages presented on the videotapes and pocket guides.
