The 20-minute feature comes with a Leader’s Guide for video presentation and discussion as well as Pre- and Post-Tests to measure audience comprehension.
With an accessible, documentary style that includes moving first-person stories, Drinking, Driving, and Drugs: A Deadly Mix introduces viewers to the profound dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs.
EXTENDED DESCRIPTION
Through the narratives of people whose lives have been destroyed by drunk driving, viewers learn that the decision to get behind the wheel while under the influence can cause irreparable tragedy.
Throughout the program, young people share why they have decided that drinking is not for them, ways to say no to alcohol, and what to do if someone is trying to get behind the wheel while under the influence.
The program also includes statistics demonstrating the undeniable risks of driving while intoxicated, as well as interviews with police, doctors, and prevention activists about the dire consequences of impaired driving.
In addition, the DVD includes further DUI-related educational resources available on the Web, a list of Facts and Statistics for quick reference, and a Question and Answer section to reinforce the information presented in the video.
The Leader’s Guide provides guidelines for presenting the video to groups, including review and discussion questions. The eight-page brochure also includes notes to the leader summarizing the purpose of the video and recommendations for companion materials to reinforce the message that alcohol and drugs are dangerous.
The Pre- and Post-tests provide a system to gauge the improvement in participants’ understanding of this subject. The True/False Pre-test surveys participants about their knowledge of driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs. Participants can then correct the items they missed while watching the video. After viewing the video, participants can take the Post-test to concretely measure their increased knowledge about the hazards of impaired driving. The Answer Keys to both tests are also provided.
