Building Futures infuses career education into a teacher's academic curriculum with easy-to-use lesson plans and informative resources for each grade level.
Manuals are divided into six core subject areas: Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, Health & Physical Education, and Art & Music. Subjects are approached through the concept of multiple intelligences, and the manual provides activities to recognize and develop student competency for each.
The middle school science book contains information on how to integrate career education into the already established science curriculum. The activities include – Skyscrapers, Becoming a Scientist, Grow Up, Acids and Bases, Timeline in Technology, Storm Readiness, Survival of the Fittest, Building an Electromagnet, Can You Build a Nest?, Time Is on Your Side, Building a Simple Clock Mechanism, Building a Simple Circuit, Building a Series Circuit, Gravity’s Pull and What Do Scientists Study?
In addition to creative lesson plans, each spiral-bound manual contains a chart of 125 occupations, organized into 25 career clusters with descriptions of tasks, skills required, and salary ranges. There is also a calendar with career-related events, and numerous website addresses for teachers and students to explore.
